Mayor Jim Kenney was in attendance as Deputy Fire Commissioner Anthony Hudgins read a tribute to Captain Sean Williamson and Firefighters Jeffrey DiDomenico and John Flood.
"All three of these members are friends of mine," Hudgins said. "Their sacrifices, the ultimate sacrifice, can not and will not ever be minimalized — ever."
Capt. Williamson was in a burning building on West Indiana Avenue on June 18 last year when the structure collapsed, killing him.
Firefighter Flood passed away in November following a battle with occupational cancer after 28 years in the department.
Firefighter DiDomenico served for 18 years before he also passed of cancer in December.
"I could talk about the jobs we went on together or the people we saved, but that's not what this is about," Hudgins told the gathered crowd at the Eternal Flame Memorial on Wednesday.
"This is about the legacy these men left in their families, friends, and colleagues," he said. "We do this in service and for our great love of this city."
